More about the Care and Grooming class:

Does the idea of grooming or handling your dog feel more like a battle than a relaxing day at the spa? Grooming and body handling of many kinds can be a big challenge for people and dogs. It can often be tough to know where to start, whether you’re currently experiencing issues or would like to prevent those issues from developing. By learning how to set your dog up for success we can help this to become a stress free process for everyone involved.

This class will cover everything you need to know to help your dog feel comfortable with body handling, grooming, vet care, and more. We will go over how to brush and groom your dog, how to get them comfortable with different equipment and handling techniques, and a bunch of other skills to help make the process easier for people and dogs.

Care and Grooming is a 5 lesson “series” class scheduled 1 day a week over a 5-week period (unless there are skip dates, e.g., for Holidays). Classes can’t be swapped or rescheduled because each class has a set begin and end date with the same dogs every week.

This class includes a free dog training clicker and an instant download of our 100+ page Ahimsa Dog Training Manual. You can also purchase a hard copy at the Ahimsa Training Center. Click here for more information on our Ahimsa adult dog classes in Seattle.

More about the Field Trip class:

It can be overwhelming to know where to start when it comes to appropriate socialization for your dog. Field Trips are designed to provide structured socialization opportunities at different locations in the Seattle area. Help your dog navigate this weird and wonderful world we live in!

Each class will meet at different locations such as local parks where your dog will be able to learn about all of the distractions the world has to offer under the watchful eyes of our trainers. Your dog will be able to practice watching people and other dogs calmly and quietly, learn how to explore the environment while still checking in with you, and the skills required to help them become the most confident, bombproof dogs they can be.

*Swapping Classes: Field Trips sessions can be rescheduled (swapped) up to 1 day in advance to meet your needs.  When you register, you can select reservation dates which guarantee your teen a spot in that class.

You can manage your own schedule on our website and swap your reservation(s) with other class dates during your enrollment period. If there’s a class reservation that you can’t make or a date you want to change, login to View & Swap Sessions. Watch the How to Swap video here. You can swap up to 1 day in advance online. By phone or email, we need at least 2 days in advance of your reservation to process your request. If you don’t unreserve or swap the class that you can’t attend, the class is forfeit.

More about the Puppy Fun & Focus class:

Puppy Fun and Focus expands on the Puppy Kindergarten curriculum and helps puppies increase their body awareness and build confidence. In this class, your puppy will learn to pay attention to you in a distracting environment and you will improve your handling skills.

Puppies will be trained with age-appropriate agility equipment such as tunnels, low jumps, hoops, step stools, and platforms. Your puppy will  work on settling on a mat, on/off switch games, tug with rules, and recall.  Your puppy will learn tricks and can earn their American Kennel Club Novice Tricks Title!

*Swapping Classes:  Puppy Fun & Focus is an “ongoing” class so you can reschedule (swap) class dates according to your needs during your enrollment period.  Your scheduled class dates reserve your puppy a spot in that class. When you register, please note there may be skip dates when no classes are held (e.g. holidays) and your pass is extended accordingly.

You can manage your own schedule on our website and swap your reservation(s) with other class dates during your enrollment period. If there’s a class reservation that you can’t make or a date you want to change, login to View & Swap Sessions. Watch the How to Swap video here. You can swap up to 1 day in advance online. More about the Puppy Jr. High class:

Take Puppy Jr. High to build more calm, focus and attention on you, even when distractions are present. This class does not always have playtime but we will be integrating focusing exercises with other dogs. You will be playing pattern games that create predictably and an open dialogue between you and your dog. You will learn how to make behaviors more reliable, using behavior chaining, the Premack principle (also known as “grandma’s rule”) and the principles of fluency.

Puppy Jr. High is a 5 lesson “series” class scheduled 1 day a week over a 5-week period (unless there are skip dates, e.g., for Holidays). Classes can’t be swapped or rescheduled because each class has a set begin and end date with content that builds from class to class.

More about the Puppy Elementary class:

Puppy Elementary is the next step for most puppies after they complete our Puppy Kindergarten but is also a great first class for puppies that are too old for Puppy Kindergarten. You’ll have a chance to build on the skills learned in previous weeks and the option to take the AKC (American Kennel Club) S.T.A.R Puppy Certification if you attend all 6 classes.

Topics include:

  • Go to your bed
  • Stay
  • Coming when called with distance and distraction
  • Emergency recall
  • Leave it – Cued and default
  • Advanced drop it
  • Excercises for the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Program

Puppy Elementary is a 6 lesson “series” class scheduled 1 day a week over a 6-week period (unless there are skip dates, e.g., for Holidays).  This structure means that your puppy will have time to get to know their classmates since it will be the same puppies each week, and that you’ll have a chance to build on the skills learned in previous weeks. A drawback to this format is that Puppy Elementary classes have less flexibility than our Puppy Kindergarten classes since you can’t swap in and out of class dates and there are no makeup classes. Please try to pick your Puppy Elementary class so that you won’t have to skip class, and take that into consideration if you’re scheduling your puppy’s spay or neuter surgery.

This class does not involve direct interaction or play between the puppies.

This class includes a free dog training clicker and an instant download of our 100+ page Ahimsa Dog Training Manual. You can also purchase a hard copy at the Ahimsa Training Center. Click here for more information on our Ahimsa puppy classes in Seattle.

Puppy Elementary meets the prerequisite requirement for: Puppy Jr. High, Puppy Agility & Tricks, and Intermediate Manners.
