About the Trainer: Laura has a Bachelor’s Degree from Northwestern University with double majors in Communication and Psychology and is a Certified Professional Dog Trainer – Knowledge Assessed (CPDT-KA). Along with basic training for puppies and adult dogs, she particularly loves helping clients during the challenging parts of puppy-hood. She also focuses on helping reactive dogs and their humans learn to navigate the world successfully. As a Class Trainer, Laura teaches a variety of classes including Puppy Kindergarten, Puppy Elementary, and Growly Dog classes, as well as assisting in Puppy Day Training.
Examples of things that Laura can help you with:
- Basic Training (sit, down, stay, loose leash walking, focusing around distractions, etc.)
- Teaching puppies good habits (four on the floor, greetings, settle on a bed, etc.)
- Growling/biting to protect toys, food, bones, etc. (resource guarding) toward people
- Aggression toward people (but has not bitten anyone)
- Aggression, frustration, or reactivity toward other dogs on leash
- Biting, growling, or other aggressive behavior towards dogs
Due to her current schedule Laura is only taking clients who are enrolled in Ahimsa classes or have taken classes at Ahimsa

After you register for a session, you will complete a comprehensive history form online for Laura to read before the session. That way, she can get right to work helping you and your dog have a better future, rather than spending the whole time learning about your dog’s past in the first session. This saves you time and money.
During the session, your trainer will ask you some additional questions during the first portion to get a complete picture of your dog’s issue(s). After that, she will teach you how to use the most appropriate, modern, dog-friendly techniques, based on what is the best fit for your dog and your family.
When you register, your confirmation email will also include login information, so that you can log in to change your schedule, if needed.
We also offer Growly Dog class at Ahimsa in Seattle for aggression and reactivity to other dogs. If your dog is reactive to humans and has bitten, you would need a private session with a Senior Trainer who has experience with human aggression. Please call 206-364-4072 or email info@doggiezen.com to help you find the best training option for your dog.
