More about the Reading with Rover class:

Pet Therapy is a wonderful way to share your dog with the community while also building your bond in the process. We’re proud to partner with Reading with Rover to provide a class that prepares you and your dog to meet their testing standards here in Seattle.

In this class you and your dog will refine your existing skills and practice the test items so that you feel ready to pass the Reading with Rover exam and become an active pet therapy team. Test items cover basic manners like Loose Leash Walking and Polite Greetings, temperament assessments, and preparation for some of the situations they might encounter out in the community. This class is designed for dogs who already have these skills and show an aptitude for pet therapy work to further refine their manners. Take your training to the next level while helping others in the process!

Reading with Rover is a 5 lesson “series” class scheduled 1 day a week over a 5-week period (unless there are skip dates, e.g., for Holidays). Classes can’t be swapped or rescheduled because each class has a set begin and end date with the same dogs every week.

More about the Pack Walks:

Our Pack Walks are a time to get out into the real world and practice your skills with your dog in a supportive environment. Ahimsa has a great community of caring pup parents, and the Pack Walks are meant to be a time to walk together and meet some new friends.

This is a supervised stroll and not a class with curriculum. If you are looking for a more structured experience check out Walking 101 or Walk with Me & Come When Called.

This class is for dogs that are comfortable within 5 feet from other people and dogs. We will start our walks with a brief check-in and the dogs all at a distance from each other. We expect that over time and with some practice, both dogs and pet parents will be able to follow closely or walk in groups. A trainer will be at the walks to provide tips and support, navigate the route and keep an eye out for hazards (loose dog!).

Your dog will be able to practice walking with new dogs nearby, watching people and other dogs calmly and quietly, learn how to explore the environment while still checking in with you, and the skills required to help them become the most confident, social dogs they can be.

*Swapping Classes: Pack Walk sessions can be rescheduled (swapped) up to 1 day in advance to meet your needs.  When you register, you can select reservation dates which guarantee your dog a spot in that class.
