Upcoming classes, call for volunteers, free training

In this post:

* Free Training Sessions moving to Thursday
* Volunteers needed for Growly Dog class
* Ahimsa won a “very close second” in the CityDog Magazine Top Dog awards (and the first place center isn’t in Seattle!)
* Upcoming classes
* Dog Training Conference

FREE TRAINING

The free training practice sessions, for current and former Ahimsa clients, are moving to Thursdays, 6:30-7:30. We’re done with the Wednesday sessions for now. The first Thursday session will be September 20th. It’s an ongoing session, but always check the schedule before you go, to make sure Rachel will be there. (look for “Skip Dates”) You do not need to sign up in advance, just show up and bring your shot records the first time you come. Excellent practice for the Canine Good Citizen test or to keep your dog’s training up-to-date. Remember – dog training is like weightlifting. You have to keep it up or you get flabby…well, you know what I mean.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

In the Growly Dog class, we have one student dog attending each session and then one or two volunteer dogs who the student dogs practice being nice to. We need the helper dogs for 30 minutes each session. There is usually little or no barking, and we work at safe distances or with fences in between, so your dog is not in danger. If you are interested in helping out, please email me (Grisha) to let me know!
WE WON! Sort of…

Ahimsa Dog Training was voted a “very close second” as the 2007 Top Dog in the dog trainer / behaviorist category for CityDog Magazine. The first place choice is in Woodinville, so that still puts us first in Seattle, I’d say! All of you who voted for Ahimsa have my eternal gratitude. 🙂

UPCOMING CLASSES

We have a few spaces left in the Puppy Pre-Agility class starting tomorrow, 9/9. For more information, visit https://ahimsadogtraining.com/puppy-agility-seattle.php

Other classes: Terrier-rific Basic & Better Manners in Burien, Jump Into Agility Workshop, Wallflower shy dog class, and there’s still one spot left in the Sunday, 9/16 Growly Dog class.

DOG TRAINING CONFERENCE

The Association of Pet Dog Trainers is having its annual conference in Portland this year. If you’re interested in learning more about dog training or dog walking as a profession, or just want to spend 5 days learning about dogs, you might think about attending. We’ll all be there! http://apdt.com/conf/default.aspx
