Puppy & Small Dog Play Times in Seattle
Ahimsa Dog Training was the first facility in the Seattle area to offer play times supervised by a Certified trainer, so that you can learn about appropriate vs. inappropriate play, and give your dog a chance for some exercise. This is a great alternative to Seattle's off-leash dog parks!
Puppies playing at Ahimsa
We offer Puppy play times and Small Dog play times. Our facility can be split into three play areas for shy, normal, and rowdy dog play.
All dog play sessions are held at our 1200 square foot training facility at 902 NW 49th Street in the Ballard Neighborhood of Seattle. Click here for directions.
Well-mannered children are encouraged to come to classes and play sessions. Click for the puppy play time schedule. All play times are 40 minutes long. $50 for 6 sessions or $10 per session. Please bring your payment as cash or check, along with treats, shot records, and the dog on a non-retractable leash.
We do not take reservations for play time, so please show up on time or early for a spot.
Puppies up to 20 weeks old.

Puppy play sessions are in Seattle on Saturdays, 11:50-12:30 p.m. See the class schedule for skip dates.
The puppy play sessions are for people who want tired puppies. Of course there is the huge benefit of socialization, but everyone who comes agrees they love the fact that their puppies are asleep and not getting into trouble for many blissful hours afterwards! The Puppy Socialization classes have more emphasis on dog training and socialization with humans; these sessions have more play and socialization with dogs. This is a great alternative to the dog off-leash park, which is fun for many well-socialized adult dogs, but can cause a lot of trouble in young puppies (both medically and behaviorally).
Please do not bring your dog to puppy play time with us if s/he goes to the off leash park, or at least bathe your dog well between the park and play time. The point of puppy play is to offer an environment that is as safe and clean as possible.
Puppies must have their first set of shots, plus 10 days for the shots to "kick in". Please bring your vaccination records to the play session. Kennel cough vaccinations are optional. Each puppy should bring at least one adult human; more are welcome. We do not take reservations for play time, so please show up on time or early for a spot.
Small dogs - up to 20 pounds. (Tell a Friend!)
Small dog play sessions are in Seattle on Saturdays: "Mini Dog Play" (12:40-1:20 p.m.) is for dogs under 20 pounds. Our "Small Dog Play" group for the not-so-mini dog, under 30 pounds, is on hold for the rest of the summer (last play date is 7/19/08). See the class schedule for skip dates.
Friendly dogs of all ages are welcome, but they must be vaccinated and fit within the size limit. Shy dogs that are slightly bigger can attend the Mini Dog Play.
Shyness or a little growling is fine, they just can't use their teeth to keep others away. Puppies must have their third set of shots (it's ok if they haven't had the rabies shot yet). Kennel cough vaccinations are optional, but a good idea. Please be prepared to show your vaccination records at the play session. Each dog or puppy should bring at least one adult human; more are welcome.
If your dog attends the Mini Dog Play and there's room in the Small Dog Play for them, they can continue the play session for free. We do not take reservations for play time, so please show up on time or early for a spot.
