Dog Summer Camp Description:

whitehorse mountain
Property has a view of this mountain!

Join us for a rare experience of FREEDOM with your dog! Have fun and frolick with your dog on 7 beautiful, lush, forested acres near White Horse Mountain and the Mount Baker National Forest. Two acres are fully fenced, so we can work on your dogs' off leash skills in a beautiful, yet enclosed environment. We will be training and doing other activities, but you will also have plenty of time for you just to relax and enjoy the forest. You just can't get this experience in Seattle!

Dogs must be able to get along with other dogs, off leash and on, as well as people.

Topics & Activities:

  • Coming when called
  • Games to play with your dog
  • Off leash training
  • Trail manners for hiking with your dog
  • Paying attention
  • Leave It
  • Play with other dogs and dog body language
  • Marshmallow roasting around a bonfire
  • Teach your dog to find your keys, wild mushrooms, or a family member
  • Whatever else gets brought up by the participants!

Thank you so much for hosting the summer camp this weekend. Sadie and I had a fabulous time. She's still pooped out from all the activities! She learned some new skills, enhanced old skills and most importantly I think our bond was strengthened through the experience. I'm grateful for the rare opportunity to spend that much time outdoors, off leash and with other pups. (If Sadie could talk I think she would concur :)

I will definitely recommend the camp to others!

-Treina Aronson, Seattle

Thanks for a superb camp! Ruddy, Renata, and I all had a wonderful time, and learned a ton. I wish I could offer more suggestions, but I don't have any. I thought the mix of training, play, and free time was great, especially for a 5-month old puppy; the campground and off-leash area were amazing, the food was delicious, and we enjoyed the hike at the end. Many thanks to you for setting it up and to Carly for suggesting we come!

Thanks for a great camp and a happy dog!

Other Details:

  • Adults only please. We may decide to allow children at future camps, but this is our first use of this space for summer camp, so for now, all participants must be 18 or older.
  • Think of this is a fun, relaxed camping trip with the added bonus of improving your dog's training.
  • Tasty snacks and refreshments will be provided.
  • There are options for your meals: sign up to have meals provided (omelets, pizza, sandwiches, etc.), bring your own camping food, or drive to one of the restaurants or the grocery store in the town, which is just a few minutes' drive away. To keep costs down for those who aren't joining us for meals, we have separated the meal cost from the training camp cost. Info on that is below.
  • Lodging is not provided, but we will help you find it. The summer camp property is adjacent to a beautiful county campground with secluded spots for tents or RVs and there are hotels and an RV park with hookups within a few miles. We recommend camping!
  • This is a rugged outdoor experience, so expect to do a lot of hiking around - to the training area, to the port-a-potties, to your tent, etc. The property is flattish but not wheelchair accessible at all. The public campground is, however. If the group is interested, we may also take a hike into the National Forest. You are welcome to opt out of any activity.
  • This is a rain or shine summer camp for dogs! The good news is that even if it's hot out in the rest of the world, it's not hot in the rainforest. And if it's raining out there, it's relatively dry in the forest because of the tree canopy.
  • You will need to bring lots of treats, a long leash, toys, and camping gear if you choose to camp. We'll have a full list for you later.
  • Dogs must be able to get along with people and a group of other dogs without fighting. If your dog is not suitable for this environment, s/he will not be able to participate in training activities and we will not provide a refund. You are still welcome to observe the training so that you can teach your dog later.
