Puppy Junior High - see class description below scheduleThis is a Series class, which means all students start and end at the same time. If you need flexibile dates, rather than structure, please sign up for one of our Ongoing classes.
This six-week class is for dogs that have already taken a puppy training class at Ahimsa or elsewhere. If this is your dog's first class, then the Puppy Catch-Up Class would be more appropriate. This fabulous, fun, challenging class will teach you how to broaden your dog's understanding of sit, down, stay, come, leave it, and walking politely, in the face of bigger and bigger distractions. We will also teach some tricks and begin teaching the dogs to go to a rug and stay there. You will need to bring a rug to your class. You will need to make sure your dog is interested in your treats or toys in this class, and we'll be using a LOT of treats, so bring a variety of treats/food/toys and do not feed your dog the meal before class. It may also be helpful to get them a good amount of exercise before class. This class has play time, so dogs who do not play well with others should take an on leash manners class or if there really is a problem, think about attending Bravery Boost or the 6-week Growly Dog Class. After Puppy Jr. High, we highly recommend that you take an All Levels or Advanced Manners class to continue your dog's training. NOTE: If Puppy Jr. High will be your first class at Ahimsa, we require that you attend an Orientation to learn about the dog training methods used at Ahimsa. We prefer to have you attend the orientation before your Puppy Jr. High class, but if that's not possible, just attend the earliest one that you can. Click here to see the Puppy Jr. High Final Exam. This is a series class, meaning each Jr. High class has a fixed start and end date like all classes at most other dog training facilities. Jr. High classes have great structure, but they do not have the flexibility of our ongoing classes so you can't swap in and out of class dates. However, during your 6-week class, you can still drop into our ongoing manners classes and regular workshops for free, on a space-available basis. If your dog is going to have surgery or you will be absent during this class, you might consider signing up for an ongoing class like All Levels Manners, instead.
