Puppy Catch-Up Training & Socialization Class

(Prerequisite: None. 5-9 months old) LAST SESSION OF THIS CLASS WILL BE 2/21. After that, please register for the Dream Dog program, instead.

This six-week training class in Seattle is for non-aggressive older puppies that missed out on Puppy Kindergarten because of late adoption, illness, or busy schedules. It is also for people who took a socialization-only class and need some more training, but want to continue socialization, for people who took part of a puppy class, or even people who completed Puppy Kindergarten, but want to take another class to prepare more Intermediate Puppy.

This class includes a FREE harness for your dog, which we'll have you use on walks while you systematically teach your puppy to walk on a collar or whatever gear you'd like ($25 value, limit 1 per dog).

If your puppy is under 5 months, we STRONGLY urge you to take our regular Puppy Training & Socialization class right away, instead of waiting for the Puppy Catch-Up class or another training class. Time is wasting! If you have a large breed puppy that is over 4 months old, you are welcome to take this class, as your dog may find the playmates in this class can better handle his play style.

Puppies will learn the foundation for sit, down, stay, come, leave it, and loose leash walking. Humans will learn how to encourage appropriate play and chewing and deal with common problems like jumping up and pulling. We will have play time in this class as well as socialization to noises, other people, surfaces, etc.

All dogs must have completed their puppy shots, except for Rabies, before taking this class. Proof of vaccination for Distemper and Parvo, in particular, will be required. The Bordetella (kennel cough) vaccine is optional, but encouraged.
