Basic Dog Manners
Basic Dog Manners is a 4-week series class to start building training skills, manners, and solve regular dog behavior challenges.
Basic Dog Manners is a 4-week series class to start building training skills, manners, and help solve some regular dog behavior challenges. We will work on sit and down, stay, leave it, loose leash walking, and coming when called, and troubleshoot issues like counter surfing, jumping on guests, or barking for attention.
This class teaches the foundations of obedience training, which makes it a great class for owners who are new to clicker training (or any training, for that matter!) and for dogs that are getting settled in a new home and could use a refresher on their manners (or who may not have had any training previously). It’s also a prerequisite for our more advanced classes like Intermediate Manners and Advanced Manners.*
* Exceptions for Basic Dog Manners as a prerequisite:
- This class is for dogs over nine months old (12 months for small breeds). If your dog is under eight months of age, please sign up for Puppy Elementary.
- If your dog barks, growls, or is aggressive to people or dogs, your dog is not yet eligible for Basic Manners. Take our Growly Dog class(issues toward other dogs) or private training sessions (issues toward people and/or other dogs).
- If you have experience using clicker training in classes and have already worked on the topics listed above with this dog, please contact us about whether you can skip Basic Manners.
